Today’s health challenges are increasingly complex — and so is the data needed to understand and address them. In perinatal and child health, researchers now have access to unprecedented volumes of data from electronic health records, wearable devices, genomics, and social determinants of health. The ability to turn this data into actionable insights is important.

The Data Science Pathway is a two-year curriculum designed to equip researchers with the tools and techniques needed to lead in a data-driven research landscape. Learners in this pathway can gain experience in, for example, grant writing, open science frameworks, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism in health data research, data visualization, and machine learning. Opportunities will be provided to connect with others in similar fields across Canada, to address challenges in data science and barriers to accessing data, critique literature and provide feedback to peers, and learn how to leverage data for successful and impactful research.
