Groundbreaking discoveries in the lab have little impact unless they reach the people who need them. Translational science is the engine that moves research from questions, to answers, and to real-world application - from knowledge to real-world impact—especially in the rapidly evolving fields of perinatal and child health.

The Translational Science Pathway consists of a two-year curriculum designed to train researchers in the methods, partnerships, and strategies needed to translate scientific discoveries into clinical, research, and practice communities. Learners will explore topics such as the importance of statistics in knowledge translation, biomarkers and their weaknesses in human studies, grant writing, and lab and team management. Learners will have opportunities, for example, to read and critique journal articles on topical areas of study, meet with other pathway members, and receive guidance on independently navigating new lab protocols.
